This National Park contains the area and the hinterland from Swakopmund to Lüderitz and is the largest conservation area in Namibia (49.768 km²). Here you can enjoy a diversity of landscapes from unique mountain ranges to desert plains and giant sand dunes. Also some lagoons at the Atlantic Ocean are situated within the boundaries of the park.
Nature lovers can enjoy desert diversity at its best. Due to the changing sun light conditions the landscape changes its colours constantly.

The Naukluft area lies Northwest of Maltahoehe along the road to Swakopmund and contains the mountainous plateau as well as the edge of the Namib desert itself. Numerous species like mountain zebra, Kudu, Springbok and Orys can be found. Fantastic hikes and breathtaking mountain passes (Gamsberg-, Remhoogte and Spreetshoogte Pass) want to be discovered.

To the West of the Naukluft mountains Tsauchab river is falling down into a narrow gorge known as Sesriem Canyon. The water pools in the stony river bed attract many bird and mammal species.
Sossusvlei is known for the highest sand dunes on earth, a fairy-tale made of sand as far as you can see. Colours vary from pale yellow to bright orange. During good rainy seasons the Tsauchab river flows into the vlei and leaves behind a lake of fresh water. If this happens even birds from the ocean will be attracted. Oryx, Springboks and ostriches can be seen throughout the year. They feed on the sparse vegetation along the remaining rivulets during the dry season .

(NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK info/bookings Namibia Wildlife Resorts LDT - there are several camping suites, you need a permit for the attractions of the NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK. You can get the permit at Hardap, Sesriem and Luederitz. In Swakopmund in the tourism office as well as in the booking office of NAMIBIAN WILDLIFE RESORTS and in Windheok at the central booking office of the NAMIBIAN WILDLIFE RESORTS.
At weekends you can buy the permit for example in Swakopmund (My Lounge & Hans-Kriess filling staion) and Walvis Bay (Omega -, Suidwes -, CWB – and E-Four filling station and Anglers Kiosk). Without a permit you can drive on the main roads only.)
