Kimberley is the capital of the Northern Cape Province.

This old mining town is known for the biggest man made hole. It was here where Cecil John Rhodes founded De Beers mining company in 1888. Experience the old days of diamond mining in an open air museum. Some old buildings of the diamond rush have been revamped and are originally furnished. The diamonds of Kimberley produced the capital for the development of the gold mines in Johannesburg. Therefore this town is so important for the history and industrial progress of the whole country.

Just North of Kimberley, along N 12,  at Kamfersdam thousands of pink flamingos can be spotted!
