This national
park (South Africa-Kalahari Gemsbok National Park &
Botswana-Gemsbok National Park) is known for its unspoilt nature.
Red sand dunes, typical for the Kalahari desert, dry bushveld
and periodical rivers are characteristic for the scenery. Kgalagadi
is famous for spotting cats of all kinds. Lions and leopards but also
Oryx and other mammals can be spotted perfectly.
The park is
mainly accessible by 4x4.
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is the first transfrontier peace park
in Southern Africa. The protected areas have been put together
neglecting the border line to the neighbouring country of South
Africa. Game can roam freely within the whole Kgalagadi
Transfrontier Peace Park.
In the South African part
of this national park three restcamps and three wilderness camps are
catering for visitors. Nossob Camp is connected (gravel road)
to the entrance gate of the park on the Botswana side, Mabuasehube.
You should calculate two days for this distance. Mabuasehube
can be reached from South Africa via R380. A permit is required.
