Visiting Kruger Park
A visit to Kruger National Park is recommended throughout the year. A conservation fee is required when entering the park. The Wild Card gives also international tourist the chance to save some money (more information - South African National Parks)

The dry season (May to September/October) however is ideal for game viewing as the grass is low and vegetation is scarce. During the rainy season (October/November to April) the rivers are in flood and a lush vegetation can be found. Botanists and bird watchers will have a great time then. Furthermore most mammals are giving birth then.
From the rest camps in the park game drives guided by rangers are offered in open vehicles. This is ideal for nocturnal animals (owls, cats,…).
Many rest camps are also offering game walks.
A very special experience are the trails that last several days. As those trails are very popular they must be booked well in advance.

Development of Kruger National Park
Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park
Since many years bigger game reserves within Southern Africa are being laid out. Those new game reserves are established across national boundaries. They are called Transfrontier Parks.
Kruger National Park for example has already been extended towards Mozambique. A further extension towards Zimbabwe (Gonarezhou National Park) has been started, the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park. Due to the lack of infrastructure the new Mozambiquan part of Kruger cannot be visited until now. Within a few years it will however be possible to cross the borders within the newly established game reserves.
The Kalahari (South Africa, Botswana, Namibia) is also part of the Transfrontier Park concept.
