Kruger National Park (R71 to Phalaborwa Gate) is just an hours drive from Tzaneen.

Magoesbaskloof Pass
The R71 leads you from Polokwane (Pietersburg) via Magoebaskloof Pass down into Letaba District. This pass is known as one of the most beautiful in the country. Within six kilometres the road winds down 600m through natural forests into the subtropical Lowveld.

Georges Valley
From Haenertsburg you can also travel Georges Valley road down to Tzaneen. This road is also known for its scenic beauty. If you have enough time left, try them both!

Sapecoe tea plantations
In 1963 South Africa started some tea plantations throughout the fertile Eastern part of the country. The most famous ones are Sapecoe (South African Pecoe) tea plantations near Magoebaskloof in Letaba District. Enjoy spectacular views over the densely forested Magoebaskloof area.
The tea plantations can be found on your way from Magoebaskloof Pass (R71) towards Tzaneen. Just before you reach the turnoff to the R36 (Tzaneen, Duivelskoof) follow the sign to the teagarden on the right!
