Soutpansberg
The Northernmost mountain range in South Africa stretches for about 130km from East to West. In and around the mountains you can experience African sceneries and culture at its best. Towards the East you find a lush tropical vegetation whereas the Western mountain only gets little rain. This an area for individualists and people that like to travel off the beaten track.
The Soutpansberg mountain range is a hiker’s paradise. Several trails are on offer. Some lodges are catering especially for the more adventurous. Hikers will be collected as some accommodation can only be reached in 4x4 vehicles.

Makhado
Makhado, former Louis Trichardt, lies just underneath the Soutpansberg range. From here N1 is winding up the mountain on its way to the border town of Musina. Whereas the vegetation on the Southern slope is lush and green the Northern side is hot and dry. This is baobad country.
Makhado is the centre for nearby farms and villages.
