The
Waterberg was the scene of the decisive battle during the
tensions of the German Schutztruppe and the Herero
people in
1904.
On the Waterberg plateau (approx. 48 x 16 km) a fine nature reserve
has been established. Some endangered species have been successfully
reintroduced.
For the more adventurous it's a must to climb up the mountain and enjoy
sweeping views into the endless savanna woodlands underneath.
Near the site of the former mission station -today only some ruins can
be discovered- you can find the rest camp „Bernabé de la Bat“
with its lovely bungalows.
Reservations through National Parks Boards in Windhoek.
